Introduction
Netherthong Playgroup has been registered since 1991 and is a voluntary organisation managed by a committee of parents.
The playgroup is inspected annually by OFSTED which reports on the quality and standard of care and nursery education.
It operates from a portable building in the village of Netherthong, near Holmfirth. A maximum of twenty children, aged between two and four years may attend the playgroup at any one time.
Through our flexible relationship with Netherthong Primary School Early Years Unit, funded children can attend sessions at the playgroup, the school, or both.
Opening Times
The playgroup is open five days a week, in school term time only, from 9.00am till 11.30am Monday to Friday and 12.45pm till 15.10pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
A lunch club also operates five days a week from 11.30am till 12.45pm for children over three years old. There is a fully enclosed outdoor play area.
Fees
Our playgroup fees are £2.40 per hour. All children aged 3 and over are elligible for for NEF Funding. Children from three years old receive government funding for fifteen hours. Read more information on www.direct.gov.uk
How we work
We are affiliated to the Pre-School Learning Alliance, a national education charity which has a policy of learning through play.
A non-profit making committee of parents runs the playgroup. All parents are invited to attend meetings and new members are always needed.
The committee employs the playgroup supervisors to run the group. The supervisors undergo regular on-going training. A qualified first aider is always present in playgroup sessions.
